7037 1960 nameplate
Peter Kerslake says "A fine image of 7037's right hand side nameplate with its distinctive Swindon Borough Coat of Arms, the engine being the last "Castle" when it emerged from Swindon Works in August of 1950.
As would be expected, 7037 spent most of her very short working life of just under thirteen years allocated to Swindon M.P.D. apart from three months spent at Worcester in late 1950 and just a month in Canton in 1959.
Withdrawn from Old Oak Common in March of 1963 "Swindon" was purchased by Coopers Metals of Swindon and despatched to their little breaker's yard at Sharpness but was shotly afterwards sold on by Coopers to Cashmores at Newport, and sadly disposed of there."
