5063 1950s Chester
The train has just crossed the Dee Bridge at Chester and is approaching Saltney Junction.
Bristol Bath Road's 5063, "Earl Baldwin" is clearly fresh from Works in this view, and "Running In" with just three coaches and a van.
This engine ended its days at Gloucester when, following a "Hot Box" on its intermediate driving axle on 19th. January, 1965 it was taken on to Horton Road shed and the offending axle removed and placed in a wagon for remetalling at Swindon.
The axle was not, however, sent to Swindon as the engine was meanwhile condemned, and it was replaced in its damaged condition before the locomotive was towed to Cashmores at Great Bridge for disposal there.
