On a WRS railtour.
Peter Kerslake says "In addition to working many enthusiasts' specials as shown here during her last year in service "Clun Castle" was worked from her Gloucester home shed on scheduled passenger duties to Swindon, Cardiff and Bristol and the boys down at Bristol Control were always happy to roster her on anything special such as on a scheduled return from Gloucester to Swindon on the 29th. May of that year when such services were about to go over to Diesel power and that day seeing "Flying Scotsman" also being at Swindon with many enthusiasts there.
One of "Clun Castle's" memorable runs took place on the 4th. September 1965, the last day of that year's Summer Services when she was specially sent down from Gloucester to Bristol as a light engine in order to work the last returning Westcountry Saturday holiday additional service from Temple Meads to Birmingham.
I captured her on film that evening as she ran through Gloucester on the avoiding line, running some fifteen minutes ahead of time, but as 1965 drew to a close poor old 7029 was past her best and she ran late on at least two enthusiasts' specials."
