With train reporting number 1039.

Peter Kerslake says "A splendid signal gantry straddles the tracks here at Oxford as a work stained 5055 "Earl of Eldon" runs in, a single Chocolate and Cream liveried coach heading the otherwise all maroon lengthy rake of stock.
"Earl of Eldon" had been a Westcountry engine based at Newton Abbot from 1958 until moving to Carmarthen in January of 1963, followd by tansfers to Goodwick and Hereford and finally to Gloucester Horton Road in the Summer of 1964, being condemned from there in October of that same year."
