5020 1961 Laira

5020 1961 Laira

5020 " Trematon Castle " has a Midland Region style of Reporting Number in place and its " Z " indicates she has worked a Special of some sort before coming on to Laira Depot where she has been recorded here on film .
My records do not show where 5020 was shedded at the date of this view in 1961 but the engine started life at Cardiff Canton , later coming down to here at Laira in 1957 and then moving further west down to Penzance before finally being allocated to Llanelly in South Wales in August of 1962 from where she was later condemned in November of that same year .
Laira's coaling stage is visible in the background.
