7037 1955 Swindon

7037 1955 Swindon

With 4967 and 3837 ex works. A nice shot of 7037 Swindon on its home shed at Swindon with an ex-wWorks 38XX 2-8-0 in new colours alongside probably being readied for return to its home shed.7037 had been built at Swindon Works in August of 1950 , initially being allocated to Worcester for a couple of months before being reallocated to Swindon, the engine spending just a month in 1959 at Cardiff Canton before ending its days based at Old Oak Common from where it was condemned in March of 1963. Following withdrawal the Swindon based scrap metal company of Coopers purchased 7037 and the engine was taken to their yards at Sharpness, on the Gloucestershire bank of the River Severn, but possibly due to an excessive workload in disposing of condemned locomotives at that relatively small facility, 7037 was not, in fact , cut up there but was sold on by Coopers to Cashmores at Newport where it ended its days.
