11-5am Paddington-PenzanceIt looks as though they have run out of " 1" Reporting Numbers at Old Oak Common so an improvised " 7 " has been hastily applied this day instead , denoting this to be train number " 140 " , the 11 . 05 . a. m . from Paddington to Penzance rounding along the sea wall past Sprey Point on the approach to Teignmouth .The sea wall footpath is being well patronised on what is clearly a fine warm day and the young lads are paying attention to what's going on behind them and 4074 " Hampden " could well be worth a second look as she spent virtually all her working life allocated to Welsh Motive Power Depots apart fom a very short spell at Old Oak Common in January of 1957 .There could well be coaches at the rear for Kingswear which will come off at Newton Abbot and a pilot engine will doubtless be taken at Newton Abbot to assist the main train over the banks down to Plymouth. From August 1954 " Hampden " was allocated to Cardiff Canton and Landore as well as seeing service at Neath , Llanelly and Cardiff East Dock before ending her days in September of 1964 whilst at her final home at Bristol St. Philips Marsh.
