4088 1960s Chester
A West country engine in its earlier years allocated to Plymouth's Laira shed in the mid 'fifties, 4088 Dartmouth Castle sports a double chimney, fitted in May 1958.
Even the earliest batch of 'Castles' were given a new lease of life which saw them performing on principal passenger rosters well into the 'sixties.
Allocated to Worcester at this date, 4088 was moved to Swindon in early 1961, later moving to Bristol St. Philips Marsh from October 1963 until withdrawal in May 1964.
