5078 1950s Dawlish
Newton Abbot usually kept their allocation of " Castles " in good order , but their 5078 " Beaufort " looks rather work weary in this view as it heads a Wolverhampton and Northbound express through Dawlish , with a Midland Region style of headboard in place.
I think that's " Coastguard Footbridge " above , and 5078 may well be working right through to Wolverhampton as they often did , unless it is scheduled to be replaced at Bristol Temple Meads .
The last " Castle " to receive a double chimney in December ,1961 this engine had spent many years at Newton Abbot before its transfer to Neath in June , 1961 and its withdrawal in November of 1962.
