5003 1950s Aller Junction

5003 1950s Aller Junction

5003 , " Lulworth Castle " is on the down fast line to Paignton here on the approach to Aller Junction , west of Newton Abbot with the " Devonian " , from Bradford , and may well have worked through from Bristol Temple Meads , whilst 3862 appears to be held with a down freight, possibly awaiting a clear road for either Kingswear or Plymouth.
The two lines nearest the camera are the up lines from Plymouth and Kingswear .

Yes , I can confirm tht 5003 " Lulworth Castle " from 83C ( Exeter ) Depot will have been rostered on to this down " Devonian " working from Bristol Temple Meads , replacing the London Midland Region locomotive which would have worked down to Bristol , the boundary for that Region's passenger locomotives , earlier in the day .
More usually covered by Newton Abbot locomotives taking the train westwards between Temple Meads and the Paignton line , the " Devonian " , beginning its mid morning journey from Bradford 's Forster Square station , called at Leeds , Sheffield , Derby and Birmingham and down the Lickey incline through Cheltenham and Gloucester on its way to Bristol .
