Up Pines Express. My shedbook shows that 5089 Westminster Abbey was allocated to Wolverhampton Stafford Road at the date of this view, having gone there from Laira in mid 1958 and ending its days at the adjacent Oxley Motive Power Depot in September, 1963. The last but one of the rebuilt Stars, 5089 entered service in October, 1939 and is shown here on the rerouted Pines Express now running from the Midlands to the South Coast via Oxford and Banbury, far from the renowned train's former route on the Somerset and Dorset line through Bath and the surrounding Mendip countryside.
