She's well coaled and probably just off Bath Road and now bound for Malago Vale Carriage Sidings. picking up empty stock in readiness for its next duty before running back up into Temple Meads, the lamp is, in this instance, a tail lamp. A long standing Old Oak Common engine, 4073 later spent seven years at Bristol before a transfer to Canton in February of 1957 from where it was withdrawn in May of 1960, then to be restored during a seven month period within Swindon Works and happily secured for preservation. 4073 was a frequent visitor to Plymouth in the 'fifties, and I was able to capture her on film on several workings to and from Bristol during that period in time.
