What a fine shot with 5049 , " Earl of Plymouth " looking his best following overhaul at Swindon Works , having been turned out in true Swindon tradition in new colours and all ready for a few local workings before going back home down to Newton Abbot. 5049 has a single " Local Passenger " lamp in position , and this view is on Swindon Running shed rather than in the adjacent Works . Looking at this photograph it is hard to believe that this engine would be condemned just a few years later in March of 1963
