This fine shot has the whole of the 'Cheltenham Spa Express' visible as Gloucester's 5042 Winchester Castle hurries through Swindon, non stop to Paddington.
5042 survived to the very end and was one of the very few of the class left in service, still at Gloucester Horton Road shed, in 1965 where I remember it in a run-down condition during the final months of Western Region steam in that area.
