7007 1948 Fenny Compton

Great Western looks newly ex works with its new name.
Renamed in the January of the year when photographed here the engine was at Old Oak Common at this periodi n time before a move to Worcester in early 1950 , sadly being withdrawn in February of 1963.

This is Fenny Compton on the Didcot - Birmingham line looking south from the bridge at the Didcot end of the station. The single line on the right is the Stratford on Avon & Midland line, which has crossed over the GWR just out of shot in the far distant, and will run parallel to the main line till it reaches the Junction at the station then head off westward. Headcodes beginning with 9 were allocated to trains heading north. During the 1950's it appears that 980 was given to the Saturdays Only 12:15 Hastings - Birmingham.
