5062 1961 Patchway
Not in the pristine condition associated with the " Castles " allocated to Swansea's Landore Depot , but the traces of the silver paint on the buffer heads still show that 5062 " Earl of Shaftesbury " has been at Landore .
The date is shown as "1961 " , but Landore closed in mid June that year , so if this view is after that date she will now be shedded at Neath which would account for her less than first class external condition , although she is still working Top Link rosters between Swansea and Paddington as she had done when at Landore .
This is a Paddington bound working climbing through Patchway at the end of the one in one hundred gradient and away from the Patchway Tunnels , and when Landore closed Neath took ten of the Landore " Castles " , with nine others going to Llanelly and just one to Old Oak Common .
