7000' Viscount Portal' was one of Newton Abbot's'Castles" at ths time, and that shed was responsible for supplying the motive power to the'Devonian' express , running in both directions between Paignton and Bradford , often using its only' Britannia' 70022 ' Tornado' as well as its stud of' Castles' on such duty. 7000 looks as though she's just arrived here at Temple Meads on the northbound working so if that is correct she will come off now , to be replaced by a Midland Region engine , probably a' Jubilee', but it may be that I am wrong and that this is the other end of the station in which case she's working back home to Newton Abbot as a fresh engine.
