5017 1955c Swindon
An earlier portrayal of Gloucester's 5017 , " The Gloucestershire Regiment 28th./ 61st." coming through Swindon with the Paddington bound " Cheltenham Spa Express " and bearing the original Reporting Number allocated to this working .
There's plenty of coal visible in the tender so the engine will probably work back home to Gloucester later that same day after being watered and turned at Ranelagh depot , immediately outside Paddington station , a run all the way out to Old Oak Common not being necessary for this working.
This name was given to 5017 in April of 1954 to commemorate the deeds and actions of " The Glorious Gloucesters " ,particularly following that Regiments exploits in Korea.
