80098 1963c Portmadoc
The 4MT was new to the area in March 1963.
Peter Kerslake says "A splendid study of Portmadoc station on a bright and clear day with Standard 80098 running into the station on a southbound working from Pwllheli and heading away fom here to Barmouth and possibly beyond .
The main station buildings here at Portmadoc were on this right hand platform behind our cameraman , facilities on the nearer platform being sparse with a wooden waiting room lasting until the mid 'sixties .
This view is looking westwards , therefore , with the wooden goods shed obscuring from view the extensive goods and stock sidings from where steam is seen from an engine within the yards .
Portmadoc had a small two road locomotive shed together with a basic coaling facility , both of which are behind the stock in this working and in the right background"
