80097 1964c Dovey Junction
A fine image of Standard 80097 here at Dovey Junction on the Cambrian system , this class of locomotive having replaced the earlier Standard Class 3 's which had proved of limited value due to their limited water capacity and consequential restiction to use on shorter duties. Originally named Glandovey Junction the station here at Dovey Junction , as it later became , was located away from any centre of civilisation within an area of marshland and had been subject to severe tidal flooding in past times . Facilities here were limited with just two operational platforms and no station staff members during its later years , the station having been the interchange point for passengers travelling between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury during the days of steam operations in the area
