2537 1900s Slough

2537 1900s Slough

Great Western Railway Dean '2301' or 'Dean Goods' class 0-6-0 No. 2537. Built at Swindon in July 1897 and withdrawn in January 1953.

When the first of Dean's renowned 'Dean Goods' 0-6-0s were built, this is the magnificent livery, brass and copperwork in which they appeared. It would be interesting to know during which of 2537's many visits to Swindon Works she lost her lovely works plate - and why? With grease gun in hand her driver suspiciously eyes the photographer at Slough in the early 1900s.
