Peter Kerslake says "Just a few months old and in pristine condition the blue Deltic went to Edge Hill depot ffrom new in October 1955. Its allocation there had been planned to keep the locomotive close to the English Electric Company's subsidiary Napier works at Netherton where the twin power units had been built."
