D820 1962 Penzance

Peter Kerslake says "Bearing its 'Cornish Riviera Express' headboard which it would have borne from leaving Paddington D820 'Grenville' would have worked through all the way to Penzance 305 miles from the Capital. From 16th June 1958 when D601 'Ark Royal' worked the first through 'Cornish Riviera' down from Paddington to Penzance without the customary engine change at Plymouth regular through runs became commonplace as seen here.
Built in early May of 1960 and allocated from new to Plymouth's Laira depot 'Grenville' worked from Laira and Newton Abbot before being condemned on the 1st. November 1972."
