The Warship class diesel-hydraulics were infrequent visitors to the West Midlands in the early 1960s. No.D817 Foxhound is about to depart from Leamington Spa on 4th August 1962. Along with D819, it was employed on the London-Wolverhampton route during August for crew training, in preparation for use as a substitute in the event of failure of the new Western class diesels on the accelerated Paddington-Wolverhampton services which were introduced with the 1962 Winter timetable.
