CR 59 1900s Stirling MPD

CR 59 1900s Stirling MPD

Caledonian Railway McIntosh '55' (LMS '4P') class 4-6-0 No. 59. Built at St. Rollox in June 1902 and withdrawn in December 1936 as LMS No. 14604. The sumptuous blue livery of Caledonian locomotives is beautifully illustrated by No. 59 at Stirling MPD in the early 1900s. Only nine of these handsome engines were built for use on the Callander and Oban line. They had a short driving-wheel wheelbase to cope with the curvature of the line and short tenders to allow use of the existing small turntable at Oban shed.
