Saint class 4-6-0 No 2973 Robins Bolitho passes Twyford East Box with a down express in c1919.

Peter Kerslake says "This location was understandably a favourite location for the cameramen of the day with that splendid signal box in the background, so often captured by the plate glass, wooden and brass cameras of those years gone by which produced such superbly detailed and clear images as this .
The signalman is as usual at his open window when there's a photographer about and has given 2973 "Robins Bolitho" a clear road ahead with what looks like at least ten coaches in its charge as it lays a smoke screen over the tracks, heading down from Paddington, the engine having been renumbered from its original 173 in December of 1912.
Built in March of 1905 and numbered 173 this "Saint" was of 4-6-0 wheel arrangement from new and was allocated to Old Oak Common from where it worked the Bristol top link passenger rosters, later moving down to Exeter and finally serving at Chester from where it was finally condemned in July of 1933."
