6008 1962-10-21 Swindon Works

With 4912 and 7331.
Peter Kerslake says "It's just possible to see the dreaded "C Shop" chalked on 6008's cabside, indicating that King James II isn't to be broken up here on Swindon's "Dump" but will end its days under the cutters' torches in that Shop. Rather surprisingly 6008 still has the cabside numberplates and nameplates in position within six months from being condemned from at Wolverhampton Stafford Road. It remained at Swindon until June 1963 before being finally disposed of, but the boys at Swindon were in no hurry those days to dispose of their well respected 'Kings'."
