6012 1960-06-11 Banbury

Peter Kerslake says "Formerly allocated to Plymouth's Laira Depot in the mid 'fifties , 6012 "King Edward VI" was moved to Old Oak Common in 1959 and finally to Stafford Road in 1962 from where it was condemned in the September of that year.
This image has 6012 on the "Cambrian Coast Express" and working between Wolverhampton and Paddington, a duty upon which the "Kings" at Stafford Road and Old Oak were first rostered in November 1958, formally taking over those workings in April 1959 and remaining the mainstay until the introduction of the 1962 Winter Timetable. For some strange reason the leading two coaches are LNER Gresley stock and far from home!
By September of 1962 a substantial number of the "Kings" at Stafford Road and Old Oak had been condemned with a number, including 6012, being stored out of use in the open awaiting disposal at both those Depots".
