6000 1960-01-09 Leamington Spa
On the 2.35pm Wolverhampton-Paddington. 6000 King George V would seem to have been freshly out of Swindon Works after a Heavy Intermediate Overhaul had been carried out there during the previous month although it seems to have taken 6000 out of service for just a week, and not the usual month or more and so I question that fact .
This would be a return duty back to Paddington and home to Old Oak Common , the engine having come on to this working at Wolverhampton and someone has ensured that the bell has been well polished, although 6000 doesn't look particularly clean and not repainted as would be expected if it had undergone a Heavy Overhaul.
The inside cylinder block and smokebox door look freshly painted, however, so perhaps it was just a Light Casual Overhaul at the Works
