6008 1930s Paddington

6008 1930s Paddington

Peter Kerslake says "This image of 6008 King James II shows the original location of the top lamp bracket above the smokebox with its accompanying foot step in place on the smokebox door, whilst the original smoothed and rounded style of casing over the inside valve chest is clear to see as is the original desgn of outside steam pipes.
Entering service in March 1928 6008 was initially based at Laira for two years and then spent 22 years from August 1930 at Stafford Road before returning to Laira in June 1952 and then finally ending its days back at Stafford Road from February 1959 before being condemned there in June 1962."
