6013 1947-08-04 Leamington Spa
A post war image of 6013, " King Henry VIII " in typical condition for that period in time when standards of cleanliness and care even on the Great Western were far from those of the 'thirties as the shortage of shed staff at that time especially in the London area was acute.
6013 was allocated to Old Oak at this date, having gone there from new in 1928 and remaining a London engine until a brief spell was spent at Laira from April 1959 although it was back at Old Oak again just a year later.
Original features visible here are the step on the smokebox door, although the top lamp bracket has already been repositioned, the original smoothed casing over the inside cylinder block, the small suoerheater over on the boiler and smokebox side and the original style of steam pipes.
No front numberplate has yet been applied, and there is a painted G.W.R. style number on the front bufferbeam
