6017 1928 Old Oak Common
GWR King No 6017 King Edward IV at Old Oak Common shed when still quite new in 1928.
Peter Kerslake adds "A splendid image of an immaculate 6017 which was allocated to Old Oak Common from newly built in July 1928 until its later move to Wolvehampton's Stafford Road in July of that year, where it would remain for eleven years.
A number of original features show well in this view, including the lamp bracket atop the smokebox, the original and graceful design of outside steam pipes, the curved casing over the inside valve chest with its burnished and gleaming two end covers, the straight water feed pipe to the boiler and original design of brass covers to the leading bogie axlebox, features all of which were modified in later years."
