6003 1955-10-15 Bathampton
Old Oak's 6003, " King George IV " runs through Bathampton on the down " Merchant Venturer ", the 11.15am from Paddington due into Temple Meads at 1.28pm with just one intermediate stop en route at Bath Spa, and a return working most probably on the afternoon " Bristolian " back home to London after a brief " stop over " on Bristol's Bath Road shed..
6003 had been through Swindon Works for a month long Heavy Intermediate overhaul commencing in April 1955, but did not receive replacement front frames during that visit as it has the original inside valve spindle covers and no strengthening pieces have been fitted inside the lifting holes within the front frames.
The engine was back at Works again, however, in February 1957.
