6013 1953c Laira
I think that I have wrongly described this shot of mine as at Old Oak Common, but it's actually in Laira shed, with Old Oak's 6013, " King Henry VIII " having been taken off the road for some attention by Laira's fitters after having worked down earlier from Paddington. The view is from 1953 or thereabouts.
What looks like the crosshead bearing from this side of the engine has been placed on the front footplate and the outer retaining bolt seems to be missing from the crosshead itself with the connecting rod appearing to be resting on the lower slidebar, so perhaps that bearing has run hot.
Allocated to Old Oak for very many years this engine was finally withdrawn from Stafford Road in June 1962, being one of the " Kings " disposed of at Swindon Works
