Not the easiest place for photographs, but what a wealth of sights there were in Swindon's " A" Shop and what a situation here with Old Oak Common's 6009 undergoing a Light Casual overhaul just three months prior to being withdrawn from service, a situation which highlights the confused thinking by those in authority determined at that time to get rid of everything and anything associated with steam.
The locomotive is clearly in fine condition, and following this overhaul was returned home to London before being withdrawn in the early September.
