6000 1961c Reading
6324 is in the bay with a parcels train Never failing to draw the platform admirers, 6000 King George V is in its later years of service here at Reading, still allocated to Old Oak Common from where the engine would be withdrawn the following year in December 1962. 6000 had earlier received the new front frames incorporating the replacement inside cylinder block during a previous overhaul at Swindon, but looks rather uncared for in this view, Old Oak suffering, as did many other Depots, from a lack of cleaners during these times, but it's a fine picture nevertheless and the cameraman has done well even though he's ventured rather too close to the tracks in pursuit of his cause !
