46240 1950-03-25 Camden

46240 City of Coventry is being cleaned at Camden prior to working a Grand National special to Aintree on 25th March 1950. It had been repainted in the new British Railways standard express passenger livery in January. This was light blue with black and white lining. 46240 had been de-streamlined in July 1947 and renumbered in June 1948. Note the enlarged cab front windows and the city crest above the nameplate.
