Princess Coronation Pacific No 46256 Sir William A. Stanier F.R.S. climbs Beattock near Greskine with a Euston to Glasgow sleeping car express in July 1958.
Andrew Vines says "The photographer identified this picture as having been taken on the same occasion as that of 46223 (and the vegetation growth and other details appear to match), in which case, as per my comment on that picture, it is highly likely to have been taken on the morning of Sunday 6th July 1958. The formation matches that of the 9.25pm Euston-Glasgow sleeper, timed to pass here at 5.45am, about an hour after sunrise. which seems to be confirmed by the low sun angle".
