4936 1955-04-15 Penzance
Hall class 4-6-0 No 4936 Kinlet Hall arrives at Penzance with a semi-fast from Plymouth on April 15, 1955.
On a southbound express.
Peter Kerslake adds "The distinctive wall provided a splendid vantage point from which to see activities in and around the station below. The waters of Mounts Bay lie to the right and the large water tank is prominent in the background ahead of the stock sidings and motive power depot. Laira shed's nicely cleaned 4936 is running into the terminus with an 'All Stations' stopping service but the uniform rake of stock look too good for such a local duty as all bear reversed roofboards and they could well have been brought from Plymouth to form part of a later express working from Penzance".
