5902 1935c Laira

GWR Hall class 4-6-0 No 5902 Howick Hall at Laira shed in c1935.

Peter Kerslake says "On Laira's coaling line with the coaling plant just visible on the extreme left 5902 Howick Hall is facing in the direction which suggests that it has worked up from Cornwall and either come off its passenger train at North Road station or has run back from a freight taken from Cornwall into Tavistock Junction yards, situated to the east of Laira.
The main lines are on the embankment on the right, with the Laira halt hidden from view and many of the houses seen here would have been occupied by shed staff, drivers and firemen alll based and employed at Laira Depot."
