6378 1963-07-25 Black Rock Halt
GWR 43XX 2-6-0 No 6378 shortly after passing Black Rock Halt with the 3.45pm Barmouth to Pwlheli train on July 25, 1963.
Peter Kerslake says "Late days of steam workings on the Cambrian as 6378 heads through splendid scenery at Black Rock, about 22 miles north of Barmouth.
The simple and last unstaffed halt constructed by the G.W.R. in September 1923 to cater for the increasing number of holidaymakers then visiting Black Rock sands had been a timber platform which later lost its simple shelte. Access to the halt was from the nearby beach and it was open to the worst of the weather blowing in from Cardigan Bay before finally closing to the public in August 1976 and being demolished the following June."
