6340 1959 Portmadoc
GWR 43XX 2-6-0 No 6340 arrives at Portmadoc with a down train.
Peter Kerslake says " A busy and sunlit day as "Mogul" 6340 which had been a Didcot engine a few years earlier runs into the down platform bound for Pwllheli at the end of the line.
The wooden shelter beyond the footbridge dates back to the days of the Cambrian Railway, whilst the main station buildings are on the up platform.
Located just over nineteen miles from Barmouth this station was an important stop on the Cambrian network with an extensive goods yard to the right and behind the cameraman whilst the two road locomotive shed was on the other side, out of camera and on the extreme left."
