GWR 43XX 2-6-0 No 7316 with the 1.25pm from Exeter arriving at Dawlish on 29 May 1959.

Peter Kerslake says "Noticeable here is that the pedestrian walkway is so low past the houses at Sea Lawn Terrace, known as the "Sea Wall Gap", constructed at sea level after residents in the elegant properties objected to to pedestrians walking between Langstone and Dawlish peering into their properties.
At sea level the walkway could not be used at at high tide forcing walkers to trespass on the line until 1870 when Rockstone footbridge, seen here in the background, was constructed, known as "Black Bridge", permitting people to cross the line and head into Dawlish via the main road."
