GWR 43XX 2-6-0 No 6319 with a freight from Exeter St Davids to Plymouth at Coleford Junction on 20 May 1959.
GWR locos and crews worked this line regularly for 'route learning' to allow for diversions, but unlike SR locos on the GWR at Teignmouth and Dawlish they were rarely photographed.
I believed Moguls were the heaviest GWR locos allowed across Meldon Viaduct but Allan Pym says "I recall seeing a photograph of 6973 Bricklehampton Hall crossing Meldon viaduct in circa August 1961 on a diverted express".
