Great Western Railway Dean 'Duke' class 4-4-0 No. 3256 'Guinevere'. Built at Swindon in August 1895 as GWR No. 3257. Re-numbered to 3256 in 1912 and withdrawn in August 1939. An epitome of the Victorian era of GWR double-framed locomotive designs, Willam Dean's 'Duke' class 3256 drifts through Oxford Station with a freight in June 1933. Over the years, Belpaire boilers (as here) and top feed were modifications made to update this class.
