MSLR 31 1880s Liverpool Brunswick MPD

MSLR 31 1880s Liverpool Brunswick MPD

Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Sacre '1B' class 2-4-0 No. 31. Built in 1868, withdrawal date unknown. Further details are welcome! Set against the imposing cliff face at Liverpool's (cramped) Brunswick MPD is a lovely example of Victorian locomotive engineering. Restored from a faded print, this is one of Charles Reboul Sacre's fine locomotive designs for the MS&LR. Once described as a "gifted unfortunate", Sacre's fascinating and ultimately very sad story is well worth researching.
