5421 1937-09-05 March

No 5421, a Robinson O5 (an O4 with larger boiler) at March in September 1937. This loco was used at Whitemoor where hump shunting was carried out. It was fitted with rail cleaning apparatus at Gorton in 1935 (part of this be seen above the tender). In October 1941 it was rebuilt to Class O4/6 and shipped abroad to the Middle East. If it had returned it would have become BR No 63910…….but it never came back.
