David J Hayes adds the detail; 8V79 at this time was the 09:50 SSuX Mandatory mixed goods from Bescot Down Yard to Severn Tunnel Junction, which also called at Kidderminster for traffic purposes. Traditional Class 8 wagonload freights such as this one could take more than an hour to cover the first twelve miles from Bescot to Stourbridge Junction because of having to stop at Great Bridge to be assisted (Banked) to Dudley and then having to stop again once the other side of Dudley for unfitted wagon brakes to be pinned down by the trains Guard for the descent to Stourbridge Junction where the train would stop once more for the wagon brakes to be released by the Guard.
