D29 1965 Birmingham New Street
David J Hayes says A nice study in light and shade, and taken at a time when the station was being re-built in readiness for its new role as the city's principle main line station on the newly electrified West Coast Main Line (WCML) network to and from London, the North West of England and Scotland (the WCML electrification program was then still ongoing and wouldn't be completed until 1974). In the meantime, Birmingham Snow Hill station would lose its main line status in March 1967 and would subsequently close in March 1972.
