D25 1962 Nottingham Midland
A contrast in nose-ends between the early production 'Peaks' and the later ones in early 1962. The locomotive on the left has arrived on the 'Robin Hood' from London. Unusually, the up service avoided Leicester and stopped only at Manton but northbound it also stopped at Bedford, Wellingborough and Kettering. The train lost its name at the end of the summer 1962 timetable. D25 on the right has a 55H Leeds (Neville Hill) shedplate on the nose end; it was allocated there from July 1961 until December 1962. However it is not the earliest nose end design for a class 45, the very earliest had working end doors for transfer of crews between locos, on this the second batch they were sealed up.
